To celebrate Roald Dahl Day 2018, St. Mary’s English Department welcomed P7 pupils from St. Malachy’s and St. Patrick’s. These young Roald Dahl enthusiasts took part in a Roald Dahl Day themed table quiz. The competition was high and the challenging questions proved to be no issue for them. The girls then channelled their inner ‘BFG’ and created their very own dream catchers. These wonderful inventions were very creative and expressive. Teachers were very impressed with some of the mature and sophisticated dreams discussed. Finally, the teams competed to create their very own sweets and all staff agreed the sweets invented most definitely rivalled some of Willy Wonka’s! The teams confidently and articulately presented their sweets and outlined why they felt their idea was the best. Again competition was fierce. There was an extra surprise as some girls found Golden Tickets under their seats which won them a star prize! A ‘splendiferous’ morning was had by all. Many thanks to our local schools for supporting and attending.
